Know the warning signs:

Metabolic bone disease (MBD): rubbery or swollen jaw, bowed/twitching limbs, tremors, soft bones, trouble walking. Linked to low calcium or poor UVB.
Impaction: no bowel movement for days, straining, bloating, dragging back legs, loss of appetite. Often from loose substrate or oversized feeders.

Either of these warrants a prompt reptile vet visit.
